Bluebell Season!
Bluebell season is such a special occasion in England! If you ever happen to be in an English forest around end of April/ beginning of May, be sure to look out for these beautiful flowers. You might then even be looking for your own bluebell photo session in London. I have been living in the UK for many years now but I have never appreciated the bloom as much as this year. Either this is because being locked in the house during the pandemic makes everyone appreciate nature more. Or it’s because I have never seen such a carpet of bluebells before.
Location scouting
When a mum approached me and asked for a photoshoot – a cake smash actually- with bluebells, I thought that we could do that in one of the local parks. But after a few afternoons of walking through various parks in north west London (imagine my kids’ joy) that were supposed to have bluebells I was rather disappointed. Yes, there were patches of them, but nothing even close to what the mum was looking for. Luckily, she had some suggestions in woods not too far from London, so we agreed that we would meet there for the session. And that was the best decision! Just look at that forest…
The Cake Smash
It wasn’t easy to find a good location to set up for the cake smash. After all, we neither wanted to squash any flowers nor be in anyone else’s way. But we found a cute spot and the gorgeous birthday boy enjoyed it!
The family bluebell photo session
Once the birthday boy was not that interested in his (sugar free and vegan) cake anymore, we moved on to the family session. We were lucky to have a dry few hours in between a LOT of rainy days.
Your outdoor photo session in London
I just loved the woods around this location – in fact so much, that I took my family there the next day, so they could experience this carpet of blue as well. I am happy I agreed to travel a little bit further afield for this. While it might be just too late for another bluebell photo session in London this year, there are more beautiful seasons to come – hopefully with more sun, too! London parks offer a huge variety of natural backdrops within easy reach. But if you have a special location in mind, I am happy to travel and get to know new places.

These images are gorgeous and so is that location! I love the video of it! I just recently learned that the bluebells in the UK are more purple than blue!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen bluebells or I just didn’t realize what they were lol! Such cute photos with them and what an adorable cake smash setup!
Funny story but after my hubby accepted his job in South Florida we found out we were on the very short list for England. Maybe next time!
I think they only grow in the UK. So if you ever make it here you can see them!

Well mom’s dress is perfect! I wonder what the difference is in bluebells and blue bonnets which are prevalent in Texas. Interesting. . . . Love the images.
