Newborn Photography Sessions
Photographing newborns must be one of my favourite things to do! Fortunately, I am able to offer newborn photography sessions in my dedicated studio in Maida Vale/ Kilburn, where you will be able to relax for a few hours while everything is ready to take some beautiful images of your newborn baby.
Why should I have professional images taken of my newborn?
All children change and develop very fast, but never as much as in the first two to four weeks. A newborn session allows you to always remember those precious first days and weeks, when your baby was still so new, squishy and sleepy. Even after just a few weeks you will be surprised how different your baby already looks! Looking back at their newborn images will remind you of that sweet newborn smell and all those cuddles.

When should I book a Newborn Shoot?
It is best to book your newborn photography session while still pregnant (ideally when you are around 20-24 weeks pregnant). It is best to secure a session early as I only take a limited amount of newborns per month to allow for flexibility with early/ late births. Newborns are best photographed from 10-28 days old while they are super cuddly and sleepy. However, I also photograph older babies. While they might not be as sleepy and curled up anymore, we will be able to capture some gorgeous eye contact.
Before your Session
A chat before the session is as important for you as it is for me. You will be entrusting me to handle, soothe and pose your precious newborn and you will spend about 2-3 hours with me. Therefore I want you to be relaxed in the knowledge that your baby is good hands. Not only have I had three babies of my own and photographed quite a few newborns over the years, but I have also been a newborn doctor before I switched to photography. So you can be sure that I know how to handle even the tiniest little babies safely.
We will discuss what colours you’d like for your session. My style is very natural and I will use pretty wraps, a few chosen pieces of clothing and the occasional dainty headband. You will find that I like to avoid bright colours and rather offer more natural themes. The options are endless, so let me know if you have any special wishes or items you would like to include in your shoot. In general, I like to show baby’s skin in the images and emphasise how delicate and pure these precious little humans are. After all we want to really focus on your newborn!
The Session
A Newborn Photography Session can take 2-3 hours. I allow for plenty of time for feeding and cuddling. Most importantly, your baby is leading the session. With patience and by going with the flow we will make sure that your baby is comfortable. This also means that we take breaks whenever needed. All you need to do during the session is relax and watch your adorable baby!
Of course, we want to create some memories with you in the picture as well. I know that most mothers don’t feel their most photogenic in the days after giving birth, but I can assure you that you will treasure these images in years to come. Mum, dad, siblings, sometimes even the family dog, should be part of this to capture your new, bigger family.
After the Session
After our newborn photography session I will professionally edit your baby’s images. This process is quite time-consuming as newborn skin can be tricky to edit. Newborns can be very red, jaundiced, spotty and flakey as their precious skin adjusts to the outside world. Don’t worry, your newborn’s skin will look perfect but natural in your images!
Your gallery will be ready up to 2 weeks after your session and we will meet again (via zoom) for a viewing session. Here you select your favourite images and decide on your collection.
How much is a Newborn Session and what is included?
Newborn Sessions are

- the photo session, which lasts around two to three hours and can be done in the comfort of your own home or in my studio
- a pre-session phone consultation so I know exactly what you are looking for. This allows me to tailor your session exactly to your taste and needs. Additionally, we can address any questions or worries regarding your photo session you might have
- use of a large choice of pretty wraps, adorable clothing and dainty headbands
- a viewing session to choose your favourite images
- hand-editing in my style to the highest standard of your selected images
- NO images are included with the session fee
Saturday sessions incur a surcharge of £30.
Once you have seen your images in your viewing session (about 2 weeks after your session), you can choose which Collection would be the best for your family. From a few images only to all the images including an album, the choice is yours.

A green business
Keeping Earth healthy and reducing the negative impact we have on her, is very important to me. I therefore try to run my business carbon neutral and avoid unnecessary plastic and car journeys. All my props are reused as much as possible and your prints and wall art are sourced from environmentally conscious suppliers. In addition, I will plant trees in your child’s name for any purchased silver or gold collection to offset the carbon footprint. To date I have planted more than 2000 trees, a proper little forest!
